Methylation gene test
Review methylation genes from the raw DNA file you already have.
GenoSight can re-analyze a compatible 23andMe, AncestryDNA, or MyHeritage raw DNA file for methylation-related context across MTHFR, COMT, folate, B vitamins, and Detox & Methylation report findings. It is educational reporting, not a clinical panel.
Free grant covers the first report
Detox & Methylation: 200 credits.
What you can review
MTHFR is only one piece of the methylation conversation.
A useful methylation report should show the genotype, explain what the marker can and cannot say, and keep supplement claims proportional. GenoSight links single-gene findings into a broader report instead of treating one SNP as the whole story.
MTHFR C677T and A1298C
Checks the common MTHFR markers people usually mean when they ask about methylation genes, when those SNPs are present in the uploaded file.
COMT rs4680 / Val158Met
Places COMT in context across methylation-related biology, catecholamine breakdown, stress discussions, and supplement caution.
Detox and methylation report
Uses the broader report to connect variant findings with folate, B12, homocysteine discussions, and the limits of consumer-chip coverage.

Choose yearlyRaw DNA can help you
Identify selected methylation-related SNPs when your raw file contains them
Explain why one variant should not be treated as a diagnosis
Separate raw-file findings from lab markers like homocysteine, folate, and B12
Prepare better questions for a clinician or genetic counselor
Raw DNA cannot
Measure DNA methylation levels or epigenetic age
Diagnose an MTHFR-related condition or methylation disorder
Tell you to start, stop, or dose supplements from genotype alone
Replace clinical testing when symptoms, pregnancy planning, or medications are involved
Safer interpretation
The report should lower the temperature, not raise it.
Methylation searches often lead to confident supplement recipes. GenoSight is deliberately more careful: it explains associations, flags coverage limits, and keeps medication, pregnancy, and symptom decisions with qualified clinicians.
Privacy and processing boundary
Hosted reports, structured findings, no raw file in LLM prompts.
GenoSight uploads the raw file to your account so analysis, report generation, PDFs, and paid-plan chat can work across sessions. The raw genotype file is processed by the analysis pipeline; the language model receives structured findings and your profile context, not the raw genotype text file.

Conservative gene references.
MedlinePlus Genetics: MTHFR
NIH consumer genetics reference for the MTHFR gene and common variant context.
NCBI Gene: MTHFR
Reference entry describing MTHFR and its role in producing 5-methyltetrahydrofolate for homocysteine remethylation.
NCBI Gene: COMT
Reference entry describing catechol-O-methyltransferase and O-methylation of catecholamine transmitters.
FAQ
Before you upload.
Can GenoSight test methylation from 23andMe or AncestryDNA?
GenoSight can re-analyze compatible 23andMe, AncestryDNA, or MyHeritage raw DNA files for selected methylation-related variants such as MTHFR and COMT. It does not measure DNA methylation levels or epigenetic age.
Is this the same as a clinical methylation panel?
No. GenoSight is a hosted educational report product, not a clinical laboratory panel. Consumer raw DNA files can have missing calls, strand issues, and chip-coverage gaps, so clinical questions require professional follow-up.
Which GenoSight report should I run first?
The Detox & Methylation report is the most direct starting point and currently costs 200 credits. New accounts receive 250 free credits with no card required, so the first pass fits inside the signup grant.
Does an MTHFR or COMT result tell me what supplements to take?
No. Variants can be useful clues, but supplement decisions depend on labs, diet, symptoms, medications, pregnancy status, and clinician guidance. GenoSight frames results for education and discussion, not prescribing.
